When I apply a gradient fill to paragraph rules, there are no controls that allow me to change the orientation. The default is left to right, but I'd like it to be top to bottom. Can this be done, and am I missing it? Would this be possible with a script? Is there any way to attach a file to the topic? I could show you exactly what I'm talking about, but there doesn't seem to be a file attach feature.

      Any help would be appreciated.

      Thanks!

You need to open the Gradient panel, it gives you complete control over the angle of your gradient.

May I suggest using object styles which will allow you to control these elements once you have made them.

Ok so now the coffee has kicked in. You are referring to paragraph rules, my bad.

Very true it seems to be uncontrollable and to acheive what you want, may need a workaround.

I shall watch this space, I know I haven't been very helpful.

That's okay. It is very outside the box, so I'm not sure it can be done at all.
