I like to view my ePub exports in iBooks on my iPad. Recently I exported a fixed layout ePub which was mostly text (the client wanted to keep the ebook looking exactly like the print version, especially to keep the running headers and footers). We had Adobe Garamond Pro, small caps, in the running headers (Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc.), where the default look of the numerals resembles proportional oldstyle (you know where some of the numbers hang below the line). The client didn’t like this, preferred the tabular look. So in the running header style I changed Default Figure Style to Tabular Lining (in OpenType features). That fixed the numerals and the client was happy. So when I went to update the ePub, the change in the headers had not taken effect, despite the fact that I gave the revised ePub a different name. I also deleted all previous versions of that ePub from the iBook library and even deleted the iBooks backup for that iPad on iCloud. I know the new version of the ePub has the tabular figures in the headers because I can see them when I view the ePub on Adobe Digital Editions (bad as that looks in general). It’s like there’s a cache or something in iBooks that’s not letting me see new versions of my ePubs. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
