Hello! Exported 24 pages of our newspaper (InDesign v19) as print PDFs and am able to print all on our HP printer, except one page. Despite appearing the same as all the others in Adobe Acrobat, a blank page is all the printer produces. Have tried creating a new page and copying old one to it but get the same result. Am able to export page as a jpg and then convert to PDF in Adobe but anticipate problems when sending the files to our commercial printer.

PS Have also rebooted computer and printer — same result.

I’m wondering 1) does that page print directly from InDesign? and 2) if you moved all the contents on that page to the pasteboard in the ID file, then added a single text frame with a word or two in it, and exported that to PDF, will it print then from Acrobat?

Hi there, you say you are able to print it all but then you say “a blank page is all the printer produces”.
Did you mean that your print house only was able to do that?
Export your file to IDML and then open that, make sure your file is as “clean” as possible from extraneous styles, objects, layers, etc.
Maybe share the file with us so we can help?

Thank you both for the quick reply! Anne-Marie, I moved all page content to the pasteboard and was able to print the page with a single text box. (Not sure about “printing directly from InDesign” — would you please provide the steps for doing so?)

Steve, sorry I meant my HP printer, not the commercial printer. I’ve exported the file to IDML but, as an InDesign rookie, am not sure how to make sure it’s clean from the extraneous characteristics you mention. Would be glad to share the file (assuming you mean the entire file, not just the page in question) if that helps with troubleshooting.

Open the IDML and save it as an INDD file.
As Anne-Marie says, make sure there are no extraneous, styles, elements, etc.

OK, exported to IDML and then saved as INDD. What’s the best way to send the file to you? Google drive link?

Anne-Marie: I was able to print directly from InDesign.
