I can’t drag any objects in InDesign. None at all. Neither the layers nor the objects are locked. This occurs in all documents.

Trashing InDesign preferences does not solve the problem. But logging out does?temporarily.

It is also happening in Illustrator, which tells me it is a bigger problem than InDesign itself. However, I still hope someone here may have some experience with this issue and tips!

      Thanks!

      Jack,

Which version of InDesign and which OS are you using?

Do they function properly on under accounts?

      InDesign CS5 (7.0.4)
      OS 10.8.4

This computer only has one account. The problem is intermittent anyway, so it’s not as if I could create a new account to test in, unfortunately.

Any other tips? This is still happening for me under OS X 10.9.1

Just a thought–have you tried a different mouse?

I only ask because I was having problems last year selecting items (and sometimes dragging) and it ended up being my mouse buttons were out of whack. I tried a different mouse and things worked.

I don’t know if that’s your problem, but it’s worth a shot to try something like that.

      If you already have, disregard.

Hey Dwayne, thanks for asking. That hasn’t solved the problem for me.

Nothing as simple as the caps lock being on?

I’m afraid not. If I log out and back it, the problem goes away for a day or so.
