I can’t delete a spot color from my InDesign swatches panel, it’s greyed out. I’ve deleted all paragraph, character and object styles (and checked default styles), any extras layers and pages and it’s still greyed out and can’t delete from the swatches panel. A plate for the spot color shows up in the InDesign separations preview, but nothing on the page or pasteboard. When I export to pdf, there isn’t a plate for it. Any ideas why?

Hi Mari! Have you checked your links panel to see if there are any linked graphics that contain that stubborn spot color?

      Hi Justin,
I’ve deleted all links. I’ve deleted just about everything.

What is the name of the spot color? Is it a Pantone color?

HMMMM…Any way you can share the file somehow? Might be easier to diagnose the problem if I could see it. Could try saving it as a .idml file and then opening that to see if it the file is holding some bogus data. Never seen one hold onto a color swatch but hey, anything is possible I suppose.
