I am creating a form in Idd CC 2015, and my boss is asking if I can make the date field automatically fill in with the current date on the resulting PDF. Any ideas how to do this?

Edit: Also, is there any way to specify the font that will be used in the form fields when filling out the PDF? Right now the only option I can change in Idd is the font size. When I export to the interactive PDF and test it, it’s Times New Roman. That isn’t my default font in Idd, nor does it appear anywhere on my original document. I know I can change it in Acrobat, but I’d prefer not to. My boss is famous for making tweaks so I want to minimize the work I have to do post-export. (Which is why I’m composing the form in Idd to begin with. )

InDesign cannot do this, but you might be able to add that functionality with an Acrobat script. For example, I think there might be some help on this site: https://www.pdfscripting.com/public/100.cfm or another pdf site.

Thank you, David. It looks like that site has exactly what I need!

Meanwhile, I had just edited my original post as you were posting your reply. I’m hoping you can help me re: specifying font in form fields.

Once again, I need to point you to another site… check out this amazing third-party tool: https://www.id-extras.com/products/formmagic
