      Hi

I generally work with files that other folk have prepared, producing translated versions, and one thing I always do with a new file is runn a script which sets a few defaults such as measurements, key increments etc.

One thing I've never been able to fathom is if it's possible to set the internally saved name that is initially applied to files when using Export.

I'd love to be able to re-set that to the default, or at least to the same name as that of the indd file itself (which is effectively the same thing). Currenly I can only do that by actually carrying out an export and making sure the name is identical to the indd file, then saving the file.

IS there some way of accessing that element via scripting?

      Thanks for your help

      Tim

      G'day

I've not found a way to do that, but if you're interested in automating stuff you might try a script to export your PDFs — which you can set to always use the filename. That will save you having to work out how to access the “internally saved name”.

You can find a scripting lesson about exporting PDFs using applescript here. You can also download a complete working script to tinker with.

      Hope that helps.
