laying out a book manuscript, I always run a search and replace grep on the entire text. of

      search:
I
replace:
I~S
Which obviously results in avoiding the I ending up at the end on a line

Every new version I check to see if search and replace has been incorporated into paragraph styles…

Every new version I walk away disappointed

      /end rant

Grep Styles cannot add or remove text. There has never been a search function within Paragraph Styles.

I’m not really sure what the code is supposed to do. Can you post a working example of your search and what you expect to happen.

Oh I can do it in a normal Grep search and replace, I just want the feature to be incorporated inside the Paragraph style.

Basically the GREP searches for white space+capital “I” and white space and replaces it with white space “I” non breaking space.

The result is it will turn over any I at the end of a line over to the start of the next line

What you can do is apply a “No Break” through a character style.

Setup a new Character Style, start from None and select New Style, and only tick the No Break (don’t click anything else)

Then in your Paragraph Style, insert your code.

      And choose the “No Break”

This will do what you need it to do.

      Hope that helps.

That’s exactly what I was thinking, Eugene.

That would work… why didn’t I think of that?

Sometimes the simplest solution is the hardest to find hahah

      Thanks Eugene
