      Hello there,

so I have a table which data linked to an excel file. On the last cell of each column I have made a button which links to a URL however this URL should change depending on the value of the first cell (supplier name). I was thinking that I could setup all the different buttons for each supplier and then call them dynamically as the linked data in the excel changes. Can this be done as I describe or in some other way? Can find/replace or GREP styles for example be used to replace text with my button object?

      Many thanks.

Update on this. Yes find/replace works with my button objects cut into the clipboard which is great however can this be incorporated as a GREP style in my paragraph style? I don't see a way to do it.

That's because GREP styles don't do any replacements. They only can apply character styles to text.

Yes I feared this and it doesn't seem very flexible to only include character styles by Adobe :/

Is there a hack around it? A script perhaps?

.. it doesn't seem very flexible to only include character styles by Adobe :/

But it's so much better than no GREP styles at all! It just should not be treated as a replacement for “Replace text” … ;)

It sure sounds this can be scripted, but for that the would-be scripter would more information … (As for volunteers, I, for one, am swamped at the mo' …)
