Bus Schedules, xml, etc.

      Tomorrow I’ll be in a meeting about printing bus schedules for 1,100 bus stops around town. I suspect the rest (printed booklets, posters, online tables) will be handled separately. Even though I am only a graphic designer/pre-press human, I want to present the crazy idea that all of this should be updated with one XML file. Right now, I have is an Excel file without styles. I am familiar with linking/formatting from Excel files, and will be talking to database and marketing people about this broken workflow.

      What I am wondering is, have any of you worked on bus schedules or similar? Any advice is welcome and I’ll be replying when I learn more about the project.

      I should mention that there are only 14 routes, so the data is fairly manageable, but I am thinking of the future….
