      Working on a book of about 200 pages with multiple chapters. each chapter must start on a right hand page, which I know how to do. what I do need help with is that my client wants the title of the page on the right hand page by itself, but the opening paragraph of the chapter to appear on the next right hand page (still good with this) but starting about 2in down from the top margin. So how do I make that opening paragraph appear 2 in down on the page after the title page. Space before or after doesn’t seem to work. I also need to have the chapter title appear lower on its page as well.

      Any help appreciated.

      Generally, I just use a different master page for chapter title openers, but there are a lot of good ideas here:

        Jstern, the solution for this problem using special mater page is possible, but (sorry David) little overkill,
        I would suggest another workaround: specify a style for that first paragraph in each chapter. In that style you just set Advanced char format/baseline shift
        to – how much in points you need the first paragraph to fall down in negative number – and then to adjust for that you specify space after to the same amount, this time in positive number – that way you have complete control of where your first paragraph in chapter starts on its page. I am using this for almost all my chapter titles that are never starting at the top of the page…

      Found solution on the link page David provided. Do have another issuei just discovered. Have running heads for chapter titles. Some chapter titles were long–require 2 lines– so I initially created a 2 line chap title style. However realized that my running heads won’t pick up this style since they are keyed to the regular chap title. Since there were only a few, I changed style back to the regular chap stlyle. The only problem is that these 2 line chapter titles are adding an extra space before the page number in the running head– there is no space at the end of the chapter title, just a paragraph return. Anyone know why this is happening or another solution.

      I remember there was something similar to this but I don’t remember the proper link.

      Here is the solution that will work perfectly than any other trick. Try this:
      For the Opening Paragraph Style add some little values to it:
      Make the Rule Above under the Paragraph Rules;
      give an offset of 2in;
      Check the “Keep in Frame” option
      make the Colour to none and Weight to 0pt.

      Thanks in advance, I know that was amazing…
