Thanks so much for help (David Blatner)! I was going to take you up on your offer and actually upload a video! However, I did another search online and discovered the answer in the Adobe forums (which appeared to have been down yesterday). So I have resolved the issue and I think that it is worthwhile to let you (and everyone else) know what the problem was because IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU!
There is a known issue with panels and tools not responding to mouse clicks in Vista and Windows 7 when the DPI setting is too high. The problem is explained here at https://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/k…..
Once I reset the monitor, I was back to smaller font size, but everything worked fine.
As an aside, I did/do have a slider on my book panel, because once you get past a certain number of files, a slider automatically appears. The other “issues” I mentioned where related to the fact that none of the panels were working properly.
As an even further aside, thanks for all your work here and the videos on lynda.com!
