Does anyone have any idea why my chapter numbers wont run in order? I mean why is it only displaying the amount of pages within the .indd file?

      Any ideas?

      Please check the following

In the book panel there is a fly-down menu in the top-right click it then select the “Book page numbering options” and make sure the page order is “Continue from previous document”

      This should solve your problem.

Thanks for the tip, but its not doing the trick. I think i´ve tried most of the options, maybe it is some sort of bug?

Instead of the book page numbering options, did you look at the document numbering options? (or from within each document you can go to Layout/Numbering & Section Options) Each document should be set to “automatic page numbering” rather than “start page numbering at 1”.

sarahchager: Yes, ive tried that aswell. But there is also something else strange happening, In the first two chapters the page numbering will continue from the previous .indd doc. But any chapter after the two first, will start the page count from 1 again, even if the options are set to automatic page numbering or “continue from previous document”.

I have made several “dummy” books to test if it was the settings from the earlier try that was making the pagination not work. The same thing happens every time, the first two chapters of the book is fine but the third always starts on page 1 again.

I bet this is a silly user error, but i just cant figure it out.

And with that, my troubles are no more! Yet again trouble is due to the user and not the program…

Thank you so much David Blatner!
