Hi guys,
I’ve been working on some books in Indesign and this site was always a great resource for me. I’ve got a problem now with a book I’m working on, maybe somebody around could help me with some tips.
It’s a black and white photography book. The photos are very old, archive, scans from old books. No, I post-process the photos in Photoshop and when I place them ID they are darker. From what I understand (I’m using ID CS5) this is normal. ID doesn’t have a color profile for grayscale, so it will use the blacks from CMYK. People around web say that I should import in PS the CMYK profile from Indesign. I had no idea how could I do it, so this was not a solution.
Now, I discovered earlier that the photos scanned with an Epson scanner have now in PS and ID the color profile from my Epson scanner. This images will display exactly the same in PS and ID. So no more darker images in ID or any other differences. Now, because this is an important and big book (400 pages, 500 images), I would like to know if using this color profile could bring some issues when the book will be printed. Does it matter what color profile I’m using?
Thank you.
