Putting a gray screen behind a graphic or a sidebar — Should I use [Black] and lower the “tint” to 20 percent? Or should create a new swatch “Gray 20” and use that? Is there a chance the color to default to [Black] 100% during the printing?

While working on projects, I end up creating multiple gray swatches, all with different names and values. It would certainly clean up the men for creating a template … but I’m trying to second-guess any problems.

I think a “tint of 20%” and a new swatch of “20% black” are the same… I can’t think of any reason to use one over the other.

Though if you want to be sure that it’s always 20% and never reverts back to 100%, even if someone accidentally clicks the swatch, then making the 20% swatch may be better… because:

Hmmm … Thanks for the tip. Maybe I’ll make the grey swatches … but I’ll keep them in the template, so I’m not always creating new ones. Sometimes, when I import material from contributors, I also several crap styles and swatches. Maybe there’s a way to corral incoming styles and flame them before they taint the finished document.

      Hi,

I think It is best to create a new swatch Gray 20 and use that for consistency and accuracy. This ensures the color won’t default to [Black] 100% during printing and helps keep your template organized. Using predefined swatches avoids confusion and potential errors making your workflow cleaner and more reliable.

      Thanks
