Bizarre behaviour with spreads

      Hi,

I am encountering a strange problem in one particular document: when I try to ‘place’ a word document in the text frame in the first page I would normally expect the text to create as many spreads as needed. Instead, it is creating 5 facing-page spreads, and then creating a ten-page spread !

Also, if I try to insert a new page, rather than inserting it in the next page position, it always inserts it on the right.

Whenever I try to autoflow text, it always creates these crazy multi-page spreads rather than just facing pages.

I can’t work out what’s going on… any help would be welcome

      thanks

      Robin

It has something to do with the page shuffling, which may be turned off in that document for some reason.

You can go to pages palette and I believe when you click on the arrow the drop down has something enabling or disabling shuffling.

Also–if you right click on the last page (before where you are trying to add text) you also get that option.

To be honest–I don’t remember which one I’ve had to enable to be totally honest.

So you may have to try to check or uncheck a couple of times to find the right one.

        Hope that helps.

thanks – but no, I tried it with the shuffle turned off and on, and it doesn’t make any difference… I think I’ll have to just go ahead and recreate the document from scratch again, I can’t understand what’s going wrong with it!
