      ID files:
      • 2 docs, 1 page each (11″ x 8.5″)
      • One file is all text; the other is image & text.
      • They both have white backgrounds. The all-text doc is all flat areas of color.

      Desired output:
      • Images that look good online; about 700px wide each
      • Added together, they could be a meg or so.

      Limitations:
      • I have ID, AI, PS (cs4); no Flash, no After Effects.
      • I want to get them ready fast. (I'm applying for a design job; this is for my portfolio.)

The recipient has the option to download a full-sized PDF, but I know from experience that when you're looking at 40 portfolios, downloading PDFs is a drag.

So I want the 700px wide image to be as spiffy as possible.

I tried this with ok results:
      • From ID, save as EPS
      • Open EPS in AI and save for web as a gif.
      • It seemed like “staying in vector” would yield better results for a GIF, but I'm not impressed.

I AM impressed that you read all of this. TKS!!!

Hmmm, I think I may have worked this out by saving as PNGs.

But if you have any advice, I'm all ears. tks!
