    Our company has a list of “Risk Words” that we should avoid using in our proposals and marketing materials. I’m wondering is there a way to do a batch search for these words? Not sure if there’s a script or something that could identify these words easily/quickly. Thanks in advance!

    Cool idea! Hm. You could use a tool like IndexMatic (from indiscripts.com) to find what page they’re on, like an index. Or you could use FindChangeByList (which is a free script that comes with InDesign, but takes some work to set up). Or you could use Multi FindChange from automatication.com… not sure… just brainstorming…

    Thanks David! I think the Find/Change script options is a good start, but not all words will have a equivalent change… if that makes sense. So, for instance, if a word is identified, it could be replace by different words or a phrase. Example: if “always” is found, it should be changed to “in specific situations.” Or, if “all” is found, it could be change to “most, usually, all specified, some, etc.” I was approach with hoping to find a solution about a year ago, but only now getting to it. Maybe the “FindChangeByList” could work, as long as is it doesn’t require a “change” word associated with it. I’ll also look to see if IndexMatic could work too. I’m brainstorming too…

    Well, automated solutions will only work if there is a very specific pattern. As soon as you have a need like “sometimes it’s like this, but other times it’s like that,” then it’s probably not automatable, and you’re likely going to need human involvement.
