      Hello,

so we have a very specific problem with our CD typeface at work. It behaves differently on Mac and Windows, even though it’s an Open Type typeface, purchased from Linotype.

We work with a baseline grid set to 6,5pt. We usually set our texts in 9/13 pt, which means that we have two baseline grid lines per one line of text (this is sometimes very practical from various reasons).

      This is the issue:

When I set the top of my text box to align with the first line of the baseline grid, the first line of text jumps down to the second line of the baseline grid. If I move the text box a bit up, like two clicks, the text jumps back to the first baseline grid line. This doesn’t happen on Mac at all, and we use both systems, so for example if a Indesign document was initially designed on the Mac and then opened on Windows, the text would jump down, staing there when saved and opened again on Mac.

The up and down jumping “boarderline” is with the baseline grid set to 6,749 (not jumping) and 6,750 (jumping).

This might be an issue concerning the type itsself and we are inquiring this as well, but maybe there are some Indesign issues here too?
I would be grateful for all ideas, thank you
      Ilija

This not a true solution, but to at least get the work done, why not just leave the text box bumped upward a tiny bit?

      Hi Tim,

thanks for your suggestion, thats what we have been doing alll the time, but I’m trying to understand why this is occuring on Windows and not on Mac …

Solved! It was a font problem, plus the font was installed as a system font, so after all admins had their run, we could clean up all the fonts we didn’t need and then install the new version of the font that was provided to us by the type foundry.
