Hello, I wonder if am not missing some setting place:

Context: a book setting where the text block is on master frames, each chapter about 30 pages… and for decent text block I calculate the length of a text block to a multiplication of a

My default for baseline in text frame is set to leading (that is if I open CS4 and create new doc my master textframe has that setting)

However, when I ADD pages to a document it adds master textframes with setting “ascent”. GRR…

Why is that? -everything is set to leading, the master pages, the defaults – is there other place to set it?

The only work-around for a document with several pages that has a wrong baseline setting for a master text frame is to delete the pages no. 2-end and then add a page, change the setting manually for the new empty page and reflow the story. (at least it keeps the setting for automatic reflow….)

But I guess there must be way to tell CS4 to remember or to set all linked frames to one baseline setting.

      Any ideas? thank you all

You need to change the default text frame object style. Make a new object style and set it to the proper first baseline offset. Then, when nothing is selected in your document, click on that style in the object style panel with the Type tool. That will make it the new default text frame style.

      Thanks a lot,

I was looking in wrong places: changing the default object style did not occure to me (while at hingsight it is kind of logical…)- and I did not even know how to make it default. So this is a solution I would be searching for a LONG TIME…
