    Dear Indesigners

    Can anyone recommend a Barcode generator, the main type I need to make is ISBN 13.

    I use a software called Barcode Producer, made by Apparent Corporation. If you only need to make one barcode at a time, you can purchase just the main product or if you need to be able to create a large batch/range of barcodes, you can add the “Automator” plug-in. It’s a bit pricey, but if you are doing this alot, it is a great tool. Best part is that it allows you to export as a variety of file types (.ai, .psd, .eps, .pdf, and more) It also allows you to edit the height and other aspects of the barcode you are creating before you export and gives you some latitude on file naming.     If you need to do a lot of barcodes in InDesign, I would recommend Barcode Maker from Teacup Software: https://www.teacupsoftware.com/product/barcodemaker/

    It’s an InDesign plug-in, so it is tightly integrated with InDesign.

    (full disclosure: I helped design this plug-in based on my InDesign experience, so I get a teensy percentage of sales)
