Automating Slugs in InDesign

      Hi folks! This is my first post (yay!), so please be gentle if this is the wrong section :)

      I’m looking to automate the creation and placement of a slug upon opening a new document in InDesign. I’d be fine with running a script. Ideally, I’d like to pre-load as much info as possible. There are the easy things like modification date and file name, but is it possible to automatically populate document size, bleed and user name? What about pulling pieces of info from the file name and converting to full client names (ie. 20_BD_Menu.indd would pull “BD” and populate the slug with “Bill’s Diner”).

      I know there are products available that do this, but I was kind of hoping some of that functionality had crept into newer versions of InDesign.
