I’m a musician and like printing the list of songs we play on a big sheet of paper for each performance.

In front of each song, I place a block with a colour (either red or green) to indicate which pedals I need to use. Sometimes also a symbol for the ‘tone’.

Is there a way to create these lists automatically? For example, creating or selecting the list of songs in Excel in a particular order, click a button, and have a PDF generated through InDesign with the appropriate colour blocks and/or symbols in front of each song.

Attached an example of a general setlist.

Any tips would be of great help!!!
      Thank you.

Either put the symbols as images in the same folder as the InDesign document. Or find a typeface/font that has colour blocks ad the notations you require and style the cells/fields accordingly.

      Hi Steve,

      Thanks for the reply.

What I am looking for is something more automatic. Something like a script using input from Excel, rather than assigning colours/typing songs/dragging icons by hand (which I’ve already done in the PDF I had made).
