    I used to have all my pages set up as autopage numbering but recently that feature has been leaving a page or two gap between each book file. For an example my preface would end on page 13 and chapter 1 would begin on page 15. I don't understand why autopage doesn't seem to be able to figure out that Chapter 1 should start on page 14. Becasuse of this short coming I have had to go in and manually tell InDesign to start on a certain page. The problem I see with doing it this way is that if I add or subtract pages before a given page won't InDesign not update that page with the correct number since it was told to start on a particular page rather then rely on auto numbering?

    Someone answered this question for me. You have to check “continue from previoius document” in the book panel.
