Argh… I think I responded to this but then the forum had a hiccup again. Server issues today.

I don’t know what the widget.sdk plug-in could be. Have you upgraded to CC 9.2 (the newest update)?

      Thanks for the reply David

Yes i have updated to 9.2 and thats when it popped up, I had a clean up of some old CS3 & 4 items on my mac but indesign CS4 was not one of them

I will continue to dig a bit deeper into this

More questions… Does InDesign continue to run even without this plug-in? Is it just when you open a document, or just when you launch InDesign? Mac vs. Windows?

I had a terrible, horrible time with the CC 9.2 update, and InDesign wouldn’t run at all until some very helpful folks at Adobe figured out what was going on. Fortunately, my problem was very rare. I hope you don’t have something similar. But I want to get as many details as possible before suggesting the Adobe folks look at this thread.

Thanks for your concern David, its just when i launch Indesign from scratch –

The start-up alert is worded thus:

Adobe InDesign cannot load the Widgets.sdk.InDesignPlugin plug-in.
The widgets.sdk.IndesignPlugin plug in requires the 8.0 version of Indesign.
Please contact the vendor to get a compatible version of widgets.sdk.InDesignPlugin.

The symptoms are frequent crashing and instability – I just don’t close indesign – opening new documents are ok for the time being

Do you think its a third party plug in?? I have been downloading epub scripts lately but only from reliable sources, any help would be appreciated

This is way out of my comfort zone, but after reading the alert message, this is my take.

The 8.0 version of InDesign is CS6. Thus the plug-in, as stated, appears incompatible with CC (v.9). Did you copy the plug-ins from CS6 to CC, or did CC ask if you wanted to import your presets or plug-ins from CS6 when you launched CC early on? Honestly, I don’t remember InDesign prompting me about an import, but Photoshop certainly does so.

I’d take a look through your CC plug-ins folders and try to locate and remove that plug-in. Hopefully I’m not just releasing a bunch of hot air.

Thanks Bob, I reckon you are near the mark, I skipped CS6 and went straight to CC from CS5. I am going to go through my plug ins now and do a bit of detective work to weed out the rogue

      the help is appreciated

Hi I am Graphic designer in printing press, I would just like to ask if it is possible to place RGB Photo in InDesign. Is the RGB pictures in will automatically change to CMYK or not? is there any change of colours when we sent to press as it is.
But When I change it to PDF file I only see CMYK not RGB, also in Indesign. I hop I will get answer for this.
      Thanks

Radia: Wow that question has nothing to do with this thread, does it?! :-)
However, the quick answer is: It depends on how you make the PDF file. If you choose Convert to Destination (Preserve Numbers) then it will usually convert to CMYK. If you choose No Conversion, it will leave them as RGB.
