    I have a document full of imported tables (from Excell and Word) and would like to aply the same table style to all of them. Is there a easy way to do that? I found a script that would aply some formatting to all tables, but not the style. I know that Woodwing plugin smartstyles would help formatting them (one by one), but don't know how to format everything at once.

    Although it's probably more complicated than what I'm typing, you could try changing the default of your basic table style. Just as there are object styles in InDesign, there are also table styles and cell styles.

    I've never done it though. I usually just make new ones and then apply them when once the text and tables are imported.

    I would think changing the defaults of the basic ID table style would work and from experimenting for a few minutes it seems to.

    Well, I've tried that, but all the tables imported are with a “no style” applied. So, even changing the default style, all the tables remain the same.

    I've noticed that on the import dialog from excel there is an option to apply the table style – so, I believe that would work. The problem would only be with the ones from word… I'll keep looking…

    Just a quick thought, have they got a style in word? If so you could map the word style to the ID style on import, this can be done with para styles so it may be possible with table styles, no time to check so I may be barking up the wrong tree, if so – sorry ;)

    I'm afraid not… ID simply ignores the inported table/cell styles.
