Alternating Leading Style

I've picked my own brain for quite sometime trying to find a solution to a problem I often face when working in InDesign. It may be a simple answer, but I've never figured out how to achieve my goal.

I'd like to be able to create a style that would allow me to have auto leading for the main paragraph, but then switch to a larger leading when I hit the enter key. This would save me a lot of time without having to double space, or go back and manually adjust the first line of every new paragraph.

Short of setting up paragraph styles and keyboard shortcuts, I haven't found a workaround. I've tried setting up styles and using the next style feature, but I can't get that to work either.

      Any suggestions?

You want some additional space between paragraphs?

Point 4 of https://blogs.adobe.com/indesig…..rules.html: use Space Before or Space After.

(Ooh, the abbreviated URL almost reads “InDesign … rules”!)

Thank you! That's exactly what I was looking for.

I never liked using the enter key to space between paragraphs, so I was going back in and changing the leading on the first line of each paragraph to change it to the leading that I wanted. Then having to go back again if I edited the text.

This will save me a lot of time in the future.
