All caps and small caps in InDesign-created epub

I am laying out a novel in InDesign, which is to be converted to epub and eventually mobi. I can create italics and other character and paragraph styles that convert properly. However, small caps and all caps don't transfer. I think it is because I need to get that text back to it's original unformatted state (it came to me originally as all caps and I've been trying to change it to small caps). I think I've just messed with it too much and it needs a “reset.”

My question is this: how can I use the Find/Change feature to change formatted text to stripped down, unformatted text? Is that possible?

      Thank you!

Hi there StirlingEditor (what an unusual first name! hee) …

You can use the Format fields in Find/Change to search for formatted and text and replace it with “Basic Paragraph” and “None” (character style). Leave the actual text find/change fields empty, and just do a search for formatting.

If you don't see the Format fields in Find/Change, click the More Info button in the dialog box.

You should double-check the Kindle formatting guidelines to make sure it supports small caps and all caps and the best way to format the html and css to get it to work.
