I'm designing a photography book and numbering my pages using insert special characters and markers.

I have my number poping up on my pages from my master page. How do I see the font style number for the different font style I'm selecting when I clicking throught my fonts library in Indesign. The only way I see my number style from the fonts I selected is when I go to the pages in my document to see the result of my font style selection Is there a way when I'm clicking throught the fonts selection to see a number instead of a letter?

My favorite method is to open a new window on the same document. In CS6, you can click the split window button in the lower-right corner of the document window (it looks like a Pause button on a music player). Or in any version you can choose Window > Arrange > New Window. That gives you two windows on the same file; set one to the master page and one to the document page! Cool, eh?

I guess I didn;t post my question properly. What I was asking .Is there any to when you are creating markers for your page numbers to see what the number will look like from the font style you are selecting. If i select Times fonts. I only see how the number will look once I click out of the master page on to the regular page. I tried opening the master page then doing split window and that didn't work. I then tried again with the master page and then click on the page and make split window and that didn't work either.

As I said I only see what the number will look like from my fonts selection, when i click on the document page and I wanted to see if I could tap through my fonts library to see how the different fonts numbers would look like.

You need to split the window, then click on one half of the split window, then go to a document page. That way one half of the window shows the master page and the other half shows the document window.

However, other than that, no there's no way in InDesign. There are many font management programs (such as from Extensis or Linotype) that let you create font previews.
