When we finish a project [many files] or a job [one file] we 'package' the CS5 files for storage and future use. As you all know — packaging [or collecting for output] collects all the job files [AI, PSD, etc.] into a neat bundle — saving us the aggravation of worrying about where files are on our machines or the network when the client calls with a revision or new order.

As time marches on client image files and vector files are occasionally updated. These corrected or updated files aren't reflected in the previously prepared packaged files.

Is there a simple OSX utility out there that compares files between selected directories [in this case the packaged files and the client directories and subdirectories], alerting us of a potential conflict and costly errors?

We try to be diligent of course, but even the most creative minds will forget to check files. We don't have a sophisticated workflow system [or unsophisticated for that matter]. It would be a nice safeguard if there was an automatic file checker that automatically brought the matter up every time we opened a package for revisions.

Would be a great opportunity for a new package files script
