    Is there a website for submitting or confirming errors in the Adobe Press CIB books?

    I teach a several design courses at a community college, and the required text(s) are the Adobe CIB series (CS6). I have often times found errors in the text, and don't know what the process is for notifiying or confirming the erros.

    For example, in the latest InDesign CS6 – CIB Chapter 1, page 11 has a diagram that I believe is incorrect, unless something has changed with CS6.

    It appears that the Application Bar and Menu Bar are reversed (error?) Can someone confirm this.

    If you Float the Control Panel (@msgraphic refers to as Application Bar?), it can be above the menu bar. The following from Adobe Help.

    Dock or float the Control panel

    Do one of the following:

    • Drag the vertical bar on the left side of the Control panel until the toolbar is docked to the top or bottom of the application window (Windows) or screen (Mac OS).

    • Choose Dock At Top, Dock At Bottom, or Float from the Control panel menu.

    Customize the Control panel

    1. Choose Customize from the Control panel menu locatedd on the right side of the Control panel.

    Specify options that you want to display or hide, and then click OK.

    Hi Bob,

    Thanks, I understand how to doc and move panels.

    The problem is the documentation (diagram) appears to be wrong.

    When I review the workspace with students, a tip I give them is that the “Application bar” contrains the appllication icon (ID) and the “Menu bar” has the drop down menus.

    It is reversed in the book.

    Previous versions of the book designate it as I have stated above.

    @David Blatner thank you, I sent off an email. I have found errors in the past in this series. It is the Series of books our Applied Design Media department has adopted. I am requesting an exam copy of your new book to use in my advanced class….

    First, from a quick Amazon look-see (page 11 is viewable), the call-outs are indeed switched.

    Next, Macs and PCs–I use both–act a bit differently regarding what you call the Application and Menu Bars. In fact, on a PC they can become one in the same. I don't believe that's the case on a Mac.

    My original reply wasn't referring to typical panel docking, although what I call the Control Bar, Adobe calls the Control Panel.

    The first part–the object of some of my confusion–shows floating the Control Bar, um, Panel (it disappears from the video capture area for a few seconds), then bottom placement, then back to the top where many users typically see it–things that work pretty much the same way on both platforms.

    The second part is the Application and Menu Bars, and that's where things diverge(?). Just something to remember when you're teaching.

    And hats off to instructors with eagle eyes.
