Adding two word last names to User Dictionary

I am working on a document that includes a person with the last name “da Silva” multiple times. When I run a spell check, the “da” gets flagged. I don’t want to add that to my user dictionary, because “da” could easily be a typo.

Ideally, I would be able to add “da Silva” to my user dictionary with the case sensitive flagged, so that it will ignore the name when it is written correctly, but make the correction when the capitalization is incorrect.

I have tried using find/replace to change all the spaces between “da” and “Silva” to non-breaking spaces in hopes that the dictionary would then treat it as a single word, but that didn’t work.

      Any other suggestions?

I don’t know about adding “da Silva” to the user dictionary.. But a workaround could be to add “damSilva” and use a GREP Style to apply a no fill color character style to text: (?<=da)m(?=Silva) leaving da Silva.. I don’t know how well this will work for you.
