Wondered if anybody could help me with an issue I am currently having with InDesign.

I normally work within Illustrator, but I am currently producing single colour leaflets that InDesign is best suited for. I am a newbie to InDesign, but know my way around the program.

What I am trying to achieve is the following:-

When I copy text within my document, I need to ensure that no EmDashes have any spacing either side, but do have 100 kerning. This needs to be consistant throughout the document. I have looked at the 'Find & Replace' tool, but I am not 100% certain I am using the full potential.

      Many thanks

      Steve

You can solve this in two steps:

      1. Create a character style with just the kerning set at 100.

      2. Do the find and replace. In the “Find what” type in “^w^_^w” (Without the quotation marks. This will select all em dashes with any kind of white space before and after). In the Change to: type in “^_ . In the Change format, select the character style you just created. Click “Change all” and you're done!
