Adding js action to exported PDF through indesign?

      Hello,

I need to add this.print(); to pdfs as they’re exported. I’ve tried adding a text frame to the page and then adding a script panel to the text frame but that doesn’t work.

What I want to happen is that when the pdf page is opened the print dialog window automatically opens.

I know this can be done through PDF scripting, but I don’t want to do that because I already have a script that does through the .indd fils and adds character styles and other specifications that I want. I’d like to do everything I need through one indesign script.

      Thanks for your help

      Hello,

It’s a long time this post has been written, but I’m interested too, and haven’t find answers.
Have you heard about a solution?

      Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, there isn’t any simple way to do this with InDesign scripting. The InDesign scripting DOM doesn’t “talk” to the scripting capability of Acrobat, so there isn’t an easy way to pull this off.

I think this is a good example of how even though both InDesign and Acrobat are from the same company (Adobe) and both a part of Creative Cloud, they are developed by completely separate teams in separate business units. Someday I’m going to go to Adobe and create a lunchtime 3-on-3 basketball tournament or something to get the teams talking to each other! (I know it isn’t this easy…the teams are in separate cities…separate countries even, with their own agendas and goals). But we are so close to being able to do some cool things that I fear will never see the light of day.

      Hi,

As Keith introduced, getting those two apps to talk to each other isn’t trivial. It’ doesn’t mean you can’t.

Kasyan Servetsky introduced a way to do so with the BridgeTalk object :

However it’s nothing but robust. A probable better option would be to call some VB or APPLESCRIPT code thans to the doScript command and run a specific Acrobat code from there.

      Best regards,

      Loic
