Hi all,
A real Indesign newbie here, so I hope this is not a stupid question and apologies that the situation is not reflective of best practice in any shape or form!
It was necessary however (due to various political factors) to produce spreads that contains a background made in photoshop.
Now we have come to print the document we have been told that the gutter or interior margin required is 0.75 in. The challenge with this is that many images extend across both pages of the spread. So effectively we need to 'cut' the spread in half and then add extra space between them
So, I have been looking at ways to add this inner margin and after trying various options….
1. Columns:
I don't believe columns will serve this purpose as when adding columns ID is adding them to the margin that has been created for the copy area and so the columns cannot be set to enclose the content for each page for us to be able to set a gutter
2. Splitting spreads into pages (noting; https://creativepro.com/bre…..spine.php)
This assigns some of the content to one page and will take a lot of additional work to place the background on the additional pages, where as before the image was being shared.
3. Document settings
working with the master slide I have headed to margins and columns options and set the “inside” as being 0.75″ while keeping the rest as the bleed to 0.125″. Yet when I export this with crop and bleed marks to see whether this has worked I fail to see whether the inside of the spread has any extra border
Does anyone have a solution of what approach we should be taking to achieve this with such a poorly set up ID document at this stage of the production process?
really would appreciate any help.
Regards
Al
