      Hi,
      If there were a AI robot on your desktop which can perform monotonous indesign tasks for you via voice commands, what kind of tasks do you envisage it doing? For example “insert a new page with X inch margin” is pretty much straight forward. But is there a higher level of the voice commands possible that can take the monotony out of your day to day interaction with Indesign and make it really useful? What do you wish you could tell indesign to do on its own so that your life becomes easier not doing the boring part and take monotony out of creativity?

      Can we comment in this thread how would we want to talk to such an assistant as a fun experiment?

      Hi, It’s me, HAL!
      What could I do for youuuuuuuuuuuuu! …

      For example:
      You are updating last years magazine with this years content. So if you could just say “update all months to next month” or “Make it current year ready”.

      @michel-allio-from-fridnge – that’s good too. :) If you could tell indesign “Write me a script to do X” what would X be?

      “Select that table nested inside another and… no no no, not that table, the other table and then change the third column width to 20 mm… no, I don’t like it, please come back to 22 mm”…

      This could be a typical conversation with InDy-Siri :)

        Surely the assistant’s name would be Sindy?

        More seriously, we might find a clash between:
        – the precision needed to specify what needs to be done “move the selected object 2.5 mm left”
        and
        – the artistic nature of many ID users “just a smidge nearer”

      Select all the table strokes with a .25 cyan swatch and solid stroke style and change them to a 2 pt wavy stroke.

      Kelly,

      Not personally truly interested to wait for years for a so simple matter! … ;-)

      @Michel: That’s awesome!

      It’s not awesome! … I’s just scripting!

      Place the cursor in a cell to select the entire table;
      Select cell(s);
      Select row(s) or column(s);
      Select text including tables to be treated;
      Place the cursor in a story to catch all the tables inside it;
      Select text frame(s) to catch all the tables inside them;
      Select nothing to treat all the tables of the doc;
      or Select nothing to treat all the tables of the active book (only open).

      … nothing more than a script! ;-)
