      Text Frame

Whenever I create a new text frame the incorrect font and size appears.

I have created a new indesign document but every time the font and size are wrong

Is there a way to change this instead of doing it each time the new text frame is created as I only work with one font and size.

      Place

Everytime I place something it goes to the last folder I retrieved the picture from.

Is there a way that I can set it so that it goes to a default folder everytime no matter what the location of the last place instruction was from.

The best way to fix your text frame issue is not actually to change the default, but to start creating character and paragraph styles. This way, whenever you have a text formatting that you like or plan to use repeatedly, you can just save that style and click one button to access it. You can find the styles panels by going to Window > Styles.

Here is a tutorial on how to create paragraph styles to get you started.

If every new frame you create has the wrong font and size, you should make a new paragraph style and select it while no text or objects are selected on the page. That sets it as the default. Make sure the character style panel is set to None while no objects are selected, so that's also always the default.

No, you cannot control where Place goes in InDesign. I suggest using a utility to control that. I use Default Folder on the Mac, for example.
