I would like to be able to set up a nested style format to set the first LINE of text as bold within a paragraph. Obviously, the first line does not have a fixed parameter like “bold until colon”, “bold 1st sentence” or such, and will change depending upon the characters used. A short/crude example follows at the end of this post. The end use is for using automated/rolling paragraph styles: “apply X style, then next style”, for classified ads. Is there a way to do this, or does this go into the arena of scripting? Thanks in advance for your responses.

      Example—-

      For sale 36V power inverter

      with multiplexer expansion

      bays and redundant power

      override. 20 hrs use only,

      asking $650 please contact

That's exactly why Adobe added Line Styles in CS4… no way to really do it in CS3 well, unfortunately. But Line Styles makes it really easy!

Drats! Alas, I should have been clear – we require a solution for CS2/CS3. Still working on the boss for the upgrade to CS4. Any hope for us backwards, budget-crunched folk for a 1st line bold solution?

BTW David, thanks for your dedication on so many issues here in publishing and the world of InD. Your podcasts, tools, plug-ins, scripts, etc have been invaluable in moving my workflow and effectiveness forward by leaps and bounds. Gratitude. _M
