Yet again, it’s time for another installment of This Week in InDesign! I’m pleasantly surprised that no one has given us grief for this really not coming out weekly, but rather whenever-it-works-out. Of course, virtually no one has ever mentioned that the Obscure InDesign Feature of the Week-eek-eek (in our podcast) is more bi-weekly. So there you go… we’re time challenged.

- Lynda.com continues to put out awesome movies of all sorts. For example, here’s a great title by Nigel French called? Designing a CD Cover Hands-On Workshop.
- Lynda.com also recently published Anne-Marie’s title InDesign CS5: Collaborative Workflows with InCopy CS5. Anyone who is interested in InCopy needs to watch it. In fact, if you’re not a subscriber, check out this 6-minute movie from Anne-Marie’s title on youtube!
- And, actually, if you’re not a subscriber, you can get a free 24-hour subscription here! If you like what you see, do us a favor and sign up. It’s pretty inexpensive, especially given what you get!

- Terry White is back at it again, with this fun article about using Buzzword docs and creating live captions in InDesign CS5.
- I liked this article about using negative space in book design. It’s not InDesign-specific, but it has good things to think about.
- Sometimes it’s nice to create a border around your page, especially if the page is smaller than your paper, and you want to print it out to show it to a client. Fortunately, Page Border is a free little script from indiscripts that can do this!
- You may have noticed that Amazon has released a beta plug-in for exporting Kindle documents from InDesign. Adam Jury points out that you can use it in either CS4 or CS5.
- I love messing with type, especially when someone says “don’t do that!” That’s why I like this article about how and when you can or even should skew text.
Interactive
- I was really pleased to see that the iPad app GoodReader has been updated in an important way: Now buttons in PDF files that you create in InDesign appear to work properly when you view them in GoodReader. Yay! (I don’t think I’ve seen it work in any other iPad apps yet, so this may be a first.)
- Cari Jansen continues her articles on making epubs and such with this one on controlling breaks in content.
