onOne Software has updated and expanded its Perfect Photo Suite. Version 6 includes all sorts of tools for portrait touch-ups, background replacement, effects, multilayered files, depth of field, and more. It will be on sale in October 2011 for $300 (upgrade $150). The apps will work on their own and as plug-ins within as standalone applications in addition to working directly from within Photoshop, Lightroom, and Aperture.
In addition to the four existing apps (Perfect Layers 2, Perfect Resize 7, FocalPoint 2, and PhotoFrame 4.6), there are three other programs making their debut in version 6 of the Suite: Perfect Portrait 1, Perfect Effects 3, and Perfect Mask 5.
Perfect Portrait 1 identifies faces and features so that you don’t have to manually select them before editing the photos. Perfect Effects 3 is a collection of photographic effects that you can preview live and full screen. New blending options give you fine control over the effects.
Perfect Mask 5 (once called Mask Pro) simplifies the task of making complex selections, with an emphasis on masking subjects so that you can easily replace a photo’s background.
