In addition to the entries from Japan, 42,270 entries were also submitted from 12 countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region, including China, Taiwan, and Singapore. After the judging, it was revealed that a full 120 of the 347 award-winning entries, or approximately one-third, were from outside Japan. The increasing global reach of the contest is proof of a growing international culture of digital expression. In particular, judges were impressed by the high standard of submissions from China.
As a leading provider of imaging equipment such as printers, 3 LCD projectors, and LCDs, Epson has dedicated itself to exceeding the expectations and vision of customers worldwide. Against this background, the company has set itself the goal of pursuing higher standards of visual expression and creating new possibilities for digital printing. For example, during this fiscal year, Epson has launched its highly acclaimed series of professional use inkjet printers including its revolutionary K3 inks for improved expression of black and white photographs. This year’s contest, however, reminded the organizers of the high expectations placed on the company, and the need to constantly create products that anticipate the needs of its customers, and which bring them enjoyment and inspiration.
