Even celebrities got in on the act. Charlton Heston, Dinah Shore, and famous clown Emmett Kelly were all students at one time. The faculty expanded to include cartoonists Al Capp, Milt Caniff, and Rube Goldberg.


On completion of the course, each student received a diploma, and many graduates did go on to successful careers in commercial art. Apparently, Norman Olsen, our poultry farmer from Sebastapol, chose a different path, or his completed talent test wouldn’t have ended up at the local thrift shop.
