And even though two of the characters in the movie are named Bert and Ernie, the creators of Sesame Street say they were not the inspiration for the same-named Muppets.
“It’s a Wonderful Life” was nominated for five Oscars but won none, losing that year to the very popular “The Best Years of Our Lives” (which is another great film).


I’m sure a lot of people have grown tired of this film and may even hate seeing it on television every holiday season. But it always cheers me up, regardless of my particular holiday mood. Yes, I’m sure there is a dark side to Bedford Falls and you can certainly make the case that George Bailey, save for his visit from an angel, actually has a pretty miserable life. But we suspend a lot of beliefs at Christmastime, and I’m willing to buy into this story hook, line, and sinker.
