The other issue, of course, is the problem of regulating heat when two people share a bed. Yes, modern electric blankets have dual controls so each side can set individual temperatures. But this requires laying perfectly on one half of the bed, which never seems to work out. Couples with electric blankets likely have more cover wars than those without them.

I’m glad the Communists never came and took away my mother’s electric blanket. I am sorry to consider that high electric prices and an impending depression might result in the same outcome, though I suspect she’ll be able to hold out. And I know that in my house, the dog beds will be the last things to be turned off if a foreclosure crew shows up at the door.
