Prontoprint, when you print to the printer are you using the correct PPD for the specific printer? Also, are you using the higher value of screen ruling/frequency in the print output panel? If printing to a laser printer (which supports postscript) you can always add a slightly larger value for the screen ruling: eg: 120lpi and 2400dpi. And you can try also with a PPD of an imagesetter and use/enter the page size manually. I found that this always solves my printing problems.

PS – remeber that higher values make the images darker!
