I think I answered this elsewhere, but I'll put it here for the benefit of lurkers. There were no page numbers added to the EPUB file itself, it just that the poster was looking at the EPUB in Adobe Digital Editions which shows page numbers for some dumb reason. (They fixed that in the latest preview release, ADE 1.8, available on labs.adobe.com)
