Thanks very much for the replies. Inspired by Ariel’s reply, a quick bit of googling found me this very handy page:

https://creativepro.com/favorite-grep-expressions-you-can-use.php

with this great piece of GREP on it:

find ^(.) and change to ~C$1
Cut object to clipboard first and specify the particular paragraph style to look for and it works brilliantly

This is amazing, and will save me so much time!
