Almost always, when I want to copy a bunch of text into InDesign, I first place the text into a plain text editor like Notepad for Windows or BBEdit for Mac. This removes the hidden stuff that sometimes would come along with it.

Another technique is to change your errant paragraph’s style into something else then change it back into what you want.
