Quilted Periodic Table of the Elements
If you’re a science nut and love to show your geeky side, why let sleeping get in the way of that pride? Cuddle up with the periodic table of elements while you dream of beakers, test tubes, and Bunsen burners. That’s right, you can get the classic classroom chart as an 8-foot by 4-foot toasty warm quilt. This duvet for the brainy crowd springs from the mind of science author and collaborator Theodore Gray. You might know Gray as the guy who created “The Elements, A Visual Exploration” poster and app, or as the co-founder of Wolfram Research. Books and apps are great, but now he brings us the snuggliest version of the periodic table ever!

Because you obviously love nerd-level information, you’ll enjoy knowing that the quilts take over four hours to lay down 120,000 stitches. They are available for a cozy $299 each in natural or black with either subtle or contrasting stitch color. If you’d rather drool over the quilt as artwork—as opposed to drooling on it—you can also purchase it as a framed objet d’art for $449. You can even order custom-colored thread for an extra $100. The website features a video showing one of the “elements” being stitched. It’s interesting to watch how the machine progresses through the layout, not as a human would, but logically, being limited to a contiguous stitch pattern. Call me a geek, but I think I could watch the entire 4-hour stitching process!
