Quark to Demonstrate Support for Unicode and OpenType at TypoTechnica

Quark Inc. today announced it will showcase the Unicode and OpenType support that will be available in QuarkXPress 7 at TypoTechnica, the international typography conference for font technology developers, application developers, and designers.
This demonstration will be the first public showing of the new font-support capability of QuarkXPress 7, which increases the number of characters it supports to over 64,000, and enhance users’ typographic and design possibilities.
“By supporting Unicode and OpenType, QuarkXPress 7 will offer a considerable increase in the range of typographical options for our customers,” said Gavin Drake, Quark’s marketing director for the United Kingdom. “We are delighted to be able to demonstrate these at TypoTechnica and give people the opportunity to gain a clear understanding of how the support of Unicode and OpenType can benefit them.”
Drake will be joined at TypoTechnica by Scott Wieseler, the Quark product analyst who is responsible for the Unicode and OpenType support in the new version. Together, they will present an hour-long seminar starting at 11:50 am on Thursday, February 17. The presentation will be held in the Bridewell Room of London’s St Bride Printing Library.
